What Data We Collect and Why
Analytics (Google Analytics 4)
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) via the Site Kit by Google plugin to understand how visitors use our site. GA4 collects anonymized data including pages visited, time on site, geographic region, device type, and traffic source. This data is processed by Google and governed by the Google Privacy Policy. We only activate analytics tracking after you provide cookie consent via our cookie banner. You may opt out at any time by declining analytics cookies or using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Comments
If you leave a comment, we collect the data shown in the comment form (name, email, website) plus your IP address and browser user agent to help with spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address (a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to check if you use it.
Newsletter
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address and any information you voluntarily provide. This data is stored and processed by ConvertKit in accordance with their Privacy Policy. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any newsletter email.

How Long We Retain Your Data
Comment data is retained indefinitely unless you request deletion. Newsletter subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is retained for 14 months in Google Analytics, after which it is automatically deleted.
Your Rights
If you have left comments or subscribed to our newsletter, you may request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, or request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. To make a request, contact us at: privacy@algmag.com.
If you are located in the EU/EEA, you have the right to access, rectify, port, and erase your data, and to object to or restrict certain processing under the GDPR.
Where Your Data Is Sent
Our server is hosted in Frankfurt, EU (DigitalOcean). Analytics data is processed by Google in the United States. ConvertKit is based in the United States. These transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards (Standard Contractual Clauses).

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The date of the last update is shown below. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
